History of Award Recipients

2018-19 Region III Female Athlete of the Year

Roosa Ariyo

College:   Monroe Community College

Sports:   Soccer

Class:   Sophomore

Roosa finished a very successful career at Monroe earning a number of athletic and academic honors. She helped lead the Tribunes to the the Region III and Region XII championships, the North Central District Championship, and the 2018 NJCAA Division I Women's SoccerNational Championship tournament as the eighth seed.

She was named the United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division I Women's National Player of the Year, 1st Team NJCAA All-American, United Soccer Coaches 1st Team All-American, and 1st Team All-Region.  She led Division I of the NJCAA in goals (55) and total points (128) and set new MCC records for goals in a game, points in a game, goals and points in a season, and goals and point in a career.

She recevied the 2018 SUNY Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award for Women's Soccer and graduation from Monroe in December with distinction.

Next year Ariyo will be attending the University of Bridgeport, the defending NCAA Division II national champions in women's soccer.

Derrick Felder

College:   Herkimer College

Sports:   Basketball

Class:   Sophomore

Felder led the Generals to the 2019 NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball National Championship, the program's first since 1991, and was named tournament most valuable player.

Derrick was named Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year, Region III Player of the Year, and NJCAA Division III Player of the Year in 2019 as well as 1st team All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American.  Felder was named the Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Year and a 2019 SUNY Chancellor Scholar Athlete.

Donnie Dutcher

College:   Herkimer College

Donnie continues to grow Herkimer into a National powerhouse, as evidenced in Herkimer's 3rd place finish in the NATYCAA Daktronics Cup this past year. The men's basketball team captured the National Championship in 2019, while many other teams captured Conference and Regional Championships. Eleven of their teams had strong National showings as well. Herkimer also had an impressive list of community service that each team completed.
