2015-16 Region III Female Athlete of the Year

Class:   Sophomore

 

Tamara is a two-time Region III/Northeast District Female Swimmer of the Year, as well as a two-time NJCAA Non-Scholarship Female Swimmer of the Year. She is a six-time NJCAA national champion, including four titles at the 2016 NJCAA national meet that helped the Tribune women to a third-place finish and the Spyke Johnson Award for the highest scoring non-scholarship team. She leaves MCC as the school, region, and district record-holder in seven individual events and as a part of four relays.  Her time in the 1000 free at this year’s nationals set a new NJCAA national mark as well. She is the only swimmer, male or female, from a college other than Indian River State College to win an individual event at the national meet the last two seasons. Miler was the 2016 Samuel J. Stabins award winner as the top female athlete at Monroe Community College.

Miler is the recipient of the 2016 SUNY Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award for Women's Swimming, as well as a 2016 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence.   Tamara will attend Azusu Pacific University to swim and continue her studies.

2015-16 Region III Male Athlete of the Year

Sports:   Baseball, Basketball

Class:   Sophomore

 

As a sophomore, Dorrian started for both the men’s basketball and baseball teams at Herkimer. As a starting guard, he was named All-Conference and All-Region, helping the men’s basketball team to another Mountain Valley Conference championship and Region 3 tournament appearance. Patrick was the Generals starting short stop on the diamond and was named All-Conference and All-Region twice and All-American once.  He helped leads the baseball team to a pair of Regional Championship games, a Regional title in 2015 and a third place finish at the 2015 NJCAA Division III World Series. In two years at Herkimer College, Dorrian helped the basketball team to a 56-8 and baseball team to an 82-17 overall record.

Dorrian is a Herkimer graduate who received a degree in General Studies and has committed to St. John’s University to compete in the Big East Conference next fall, receiving a baseball scholarship.
