Region III Athletes of the Year

2014-15 Region III Female Athlete of the Year

College:   Monroe Community College

Sports:   Larosse

Class:   Sophomore

 

Michelle helped lead the Tribunes to a perfect 15-0 season including a third straight NJCAA National Championship.  Schwartz was named an NJCAA 1st Team All-American and the 2015 Region III Player of the Year.  She was fifth in the national in scoring with 80 points on 35 goals and 45 assists.  Her 79 goals and 92 career assists place her second in program history in both categories.  She was named the Samuel J. Stabins awards winner as the top female athlete at MCC for the 2014-15 year.

Michelle graduation from Monroe with an AS in Liberal Arts-General Studies and will continue her academic and athletic career at Siena College.

2014-15 Region III Male Athlete of the Year

Ben Polk

College:   Herkimer College

Sports:   Soccer

Class:   Sophomore

 

Polk helped lead the Generals to a 3rd Place finish at the NJCAA National Championships leading the nation in goals scored with 33.  He was named a 1st Team NJCAA All-American as well as a 1st Team NSCAA All-American.  Ben was named Player of the Year in Region III and in the Mountain Valley Conference.  Polk scored in 18 of his team's twenty games this season including a quartet of hat tricks while scoring in the game winning goal in eight of Herkimer's wins this season.

Polk was named to the President's List twice at Herkimer College earning a perfect 4.0 GPA in two semester.  Ben will attend Syracuse University in the Fall to major in Business Administration and continue his soccer career.
