Hometown:  Brooklyn, New York

Bourne helped the GCC men's basketball team to a pair of wins last week, averaging 23,5 points and 8.5 assists per game. Bourne scored a game high 22 points and dished out 13 assists in a WNYAC win over Monroe CC, and followed with a 25 point performance on the road in a victory over Mercyhurst University - North East.

College:  Hudson Valley Community College

Hometown:  East Greenbush, New York

Kyle helped guide the Vikings to a second place finish in the first Mountain Valley Conference match last week as he tallied set scores of 585 and 623. Over the weekend, he teamed up with Jason Macey to claim second place in the doubles portion of the Westchester Shootout with a 1,249 combined score.

Hometown:  Rochester, New York

Sean won a pair of individual events in Monroe's dual with Roberts Wesleyan College this week.  He finished first in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:12.44 and the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:06.19, more than thirty seconds faster than the second place finisher.  Mahaney was also one of the members of the winning 200 Medley Relay team.

Hometown:  Cassadaga, New York

Torres went 4-0 on his way to a first-place at the Jamestown Community College Open .
Torres started his day off with a fall over Mike Southwick needing 36 seconds to do so. In the quarterfinals, Torres defeated Nathan Parker of RIT by a 14-3 major decision. In his semifinal matchup, Torres defeated Brent Burbules if NCAA DII Mercyhurst University by a 5-1 decision. In the championship match, Torres defeated Derek Brown of NCAA DI Clarion University by a 9-0 major decision.

 

 

Female Athletes of the Week

Abigail DeFisher

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Finger Lakes Community College

Hometown:  Marion, New York

DeFisher posted double-doubles in both games for the Lakers this week as the team picked up a win over Tompkins Cortland CC and fell to Onondaga CC.  She scored 28 points and grabbed 18 rebounds with 3 blocks in the loss to OCC and had 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 blocks against Tompkins Cortland.  Abigail is currently in the top 10 in Region III in both scoring and rebounding.

College:  Monroe Community College

Hometown:  Rochester, New York

Rachel had a pair of first place finishes in this week's dual meet with Roberts Wesleyan College.  She posted a time of 2:30.67 in the 200 Backstroke, over ten seconds better than the runner up finisher. Knittel was the only competitor to post a time better than 30 seconds in the 500 Freestyle, finishing in 28.84

Hometown:  Kingston, New York

In this weekend's Westchester Shootout, Jordan continued to bowl well for the Vikings. She knocked down a total of 544 pins in the single portion of the tournament, which landed her 16th place in the overall individual standings. In the first Mountain Valley Conference match of the season, Thomas posted a score of 211 in the opening game of the first match as she finished the set with a team-best score of 565.
