Male Athletes of the Week

Tyseem Lyles

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Tompkins Cortland Community College

Hometown:  Brooklyn, NY

Lyles was named Most Valuable Player of the Mid-State Conference Tournament this weekend.  In the semi-final win over Cayuga CC Tyseem posted a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists.  In the conference final he helped lead the team to a victory over Finger Lakes with 27 points and 7 steals.  In the tourney he averaged 24 points, 3 rebounds, 6.5 assits, and 5 steals per game in the tournament.

 

 

Brandon Bullock

Sport:   Basketball

College:  Finger Lakes Community College

Hometown:  Killeen, TX

Brandon Bullock had a strong weekend in the Mid-State Athletic Conference Tournament. He had 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in the Lakers semi-final win over Corning Community College. He backed that up with one of the best games in Finger Lakes history. Bullock scored 43 points in the MSAC Finals, the second most in a game in Laker history. The freshman added 14 rebounds and 5 steals in the one point loss to Tompkins Cortland CC.

Female Athletes of the Week

Allie Taylor

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Onondaga Community College

Hometown:  Hannibal, NY

Taylor was named Most Valuable Player of the Mid-State Conference Championship this weekend as the Lazers posted victories over Corning CC in the semi-finals and Jefferson CC in the finals.  She led the team in scoring both days scoring 14 points and grabbing 9 rebounds against Corning and then scored 20 points with 7 rebounds against Jefferson.

 

 

Kristine Ripson

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Niagara County Community College

Hometown:  Youngstown, NY

Sophomore Kristine Ripson had two solid performances this past week for the Thunderwolves secure the #1 seed in the upcoming Region III tournament. In a 59-54 loss at defending champion Erie CC, Ripson had 24 points, 18 rebounds and four blocks. In a 63-60 overtime win against Jamestown CC, Ripson finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals.
