Male Athletes of the Week

Riangelo Jones Sport: Swimming & Diving College: Monroe Community College Hometown: Willemstad, Ontario Jones, a freshman was named Male Athlete of the Meet after helping lead the MCC men's swimming and diving team to the 2014 Region III, Northeast District championship over the weekend. Jones won the 400 IM (4:28.22), 1,650 free (17:42.85), and 200 breast (2:15.65). He was also part of the winning 200 free and 800 free relay teams.

Tyseem Lyles Sport: Basketball College: Tompkins Cortland Community College Hometown: Brooklyn, NY Tyseem had a huge game against Cayuga, helping the Panthers clinch the Mid-State Athletic Conference regular season title. He scored 23 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, handed out 8 assists, and swiped 7 steals. Earlier in the week he had 15 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, and 4 steals against Onondaga. He ended the week with 20 points in the win over Schenectady.

Dylan Verkey Sport: Basketball College: Finger Lakes Community College Hometown: Seneca Falls, NY Dylan led the Lakers in scoring this week averaging 18.5 points per game and 4 steals a game. He recorded his second double-double of the year Wednesday against Cayuga and extended his streak of multiple three pointers in a game to eight straight games bringing his season total to 83 three pointers, seven short of the FLCC school record.

Stephanie Boucher Sport: Indoor Track & Field College: Mohawk Valley Community College Hometown: New Hartford, NY Stephanie continued her fine Indoor season this weekend as she broke the MVCC school record in the 600 meters with a time of 1:38.15. The Freshman Liberal Arts major has qualified for the Indoor Nationals in the 600m, 800m and 1000m. |

Shikera Lawson Sport: Basketball College: Hudson Valley Community College Hometown: Hudson Valley, NY Lawson helped lead the Vikings to two big regional wins over Mohawk Valley and Jefferson this past weekend. She recorded 8 points and 14 rebounds against Mohawk Valley, then turned around the next day to tally a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds.

Allie Taylor Sport: Basketball College: Onondaga Community College Hometown: Hannibal, NY Allie averaged 20 points and 8.5 rebounds a game in two win this past week to lead Onondaga to an undefeated regular season in Regional competition. Allie also added 6 steals and 4 blocks in the wins against TC3 and Finger Lakes.
