Male Athletes of the Week

Naquil Jones

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Genesee Community College

Hometown:  Philadelphia, PA

Jones averaged better than 30 points per game in two games last week for the Genesee CC men's basketball team. He recorded a career high 39 points against Erie CC, connecting on four 3 point baskets and was 11-12 from the free-throw line. Jones finished the week scoring 22 points, dishing out four assists and grabbing two steals at #4 nationally ranked Community College of Beaver County.

 

 

 

 

 

Matt Salle

Sport:   Swimming & Diving

College:  SUNY Delhi

Hometown:  Pine Bush, NY

Matt broke two SUNY Delhi team records and Mountain Valley Conference Records in Diving at the Ithaca College Dick Comanzo Invite on Sunday.  He broke the 11 dives records on both 1 meter (521.25) and 3 meter (500.28), which also were Mountain Valley Conference records.  Matt was second on 3 meter and 3rd on 1 meter against four colleges.  Salle also won the 3 meter for 6 dives, 1 meter for 6 dives and the 200 yard breaststroke at the SUNY Delhi Invitational on Saturday.

 

 

 

Female Athletes of the Week

Ashley Armstrong

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Finger Lakes Community College

Hometown:  Rochester, NY

Ashley averaged 25.5 points per game this past week including a 28 point performance (10-14 from the field) against #2 ranked Onondaga CC. In the two games she averaged 5 assists and 3 steals. She was 15-18 from the free throw line in Saturday's win over Tompkins Cortland. On the season, Ashley is averaging over 17 points per game.

 

 

 

 

Ayana Ratliff

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Monroe Community College

Hometown:  Brooklyn, NY

Ratliff, a 5-6 sophomore point guard out of Bishop Loughlin High School, hit the game-tying and game-winning 3-pointers as MCC defeated previously unbeaten Niagara County CC, 70-67, in overtime Saturday. Ayana beat the buzzer with a 3 at the end of regulation to send the game to an extra session. She then knocked down the game-winner as the horn sounded in overtime. Ratliff finished with 18 points and six assists.
