Lazaro Martinez Sport: Basketball College: Mohawk Valley Community College Hometown: New York, NY Martinez had 22 points and 11 rebounds in the team’s season opening win over Queensboro CC. He then had 28 points and 8 rebounds in a 90-84 win over Genesee in the finals of the Torchia Classic to lead the Hawks to the championship and a 2-0 start for the year. |

James Murphy Sport: Ice Hockey College: Hudson Valley Community College Hometown: Port Jefferson Station, NY In the Vikings first of 2 games this week, both victories, James Murphy recorded a hat-trick and three assists in an 8-3 win over Broome. Murphy recorded two more assists on Saturday in a shutout win over Maine Club. |

Kristine Ripson Sport: Basketball College: Niagara County Community College Hometown: Youngstown, NY Sophomore Kristine Ripson helped the Thunderwolves to a pair of wins at the Region III Crossover Classic at Corning CC this past weekend. In a 66-35 win over Corning CC, Ripson had 21 points, 17 rebounds, 5 steals and 5 blocks. In a 60-33 win over Tompkins-Cortland CC, Ripson finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 blocks. |

Alyssa Crosby Sport: Basketball College: Jefferson Community College Hometown: Briar Hill, NY Alyssa led the Cannoneers to a 2-0 start in Region III play and the Torchia Classic championship posting double-doubles in both games, averaging 20 ppg and 11.5 rpg with 5 assists and 2 steals. Alyssa scored the final 5 points in the last minute of the championship against Mohawk Valley CC including the winning basket with under 10 seconds to play to lead the team to the one point victory. |
