Region III Championships for both Division II and Division III baseball get under way this weekend.  Monroe Community College with play host to Mercyhurst University - North East in the Region III Division II Championship this weekend.  The two teams will play of best of three series starting at 2:00 pm On Friday, May 13th.  The second game of the series is scheduled for 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 14th with game three to take place on Sunday if necessary.

The Division III Championship also begins this weekend the the tournaments four opening round Sub-Regional three game series.  The top two teams from the East and West Sections will play host to the third and fourth seeds from the opposite section this Saturday and Sunday.

Herkimer College enters as the top seed from the East section with a record of 24-2 in games against their sectional rivals.  The Generals play host to Genesee Community College; the Cougars enter the tournament as the fourth seed from the West section after finishing 16-13 in the West.  The two teams are scheduled for a double-header on Saturday at 1:00pm and 4:00pm.

Niagara County Community College has earned the number one seed in the West division after finishing the regular season 25-1.  The Thuderwolves play host to the the Timberwolves from SUNY Adirondack.  Adirondack enters the post season with a 12-14 record in the East Section, game times for Saturday to be determined.

The second seed in the West section goes to Finger Lakes Community College; the Lakers finished the year 23-7 in Regional games against their sectional opponents.  Mid-State Conference foe, Jefferson Community College (12-14) will travel to Canandaigua to take on FLCC after finishing as the East's third seeded team.  The two teams met in early April this season when the Lakers earned a sweep of the Cannoneers 6-5, 4-2.

In the final SubRegional matchup Hudson Valley Community College will play host to Onondaga Community College.  The Vikings earned the two seed in the East section after finishing the regular season 22-6.  The Lazers enter the post season after a 19-11 campaign, winners of their last six games.

The four series winners of the SubRegional series will then be seeded as they advance to the double elimination Region III, Division III Tournament hosted by Herkimer College from May 20-21.
