Jordan Brennan Sport: Lacrosse College: Genesee Community College Hometown: Gowanda, NY Brennan took turns last week in being the team’s leading goal getter and then being the team’s leading set-up man in a pair of wins for third ranked Genesee. Against Tompkins-Cortland, Jordan scored six goals and added an assist in a 23-5 win over than tenth ranked team in the nation. The sophomore followed that up with a six-point game against Herkimer with a team-leading four helpers. For the week, Brennan scored eight goals from nine shots on net, while adding seven groundballs along the way. |

Salvatore Pezzolla Sport: Baseball College: Hudson Valley Community College Hometown: East Greenbush, NY Salvatore was the Vikings top hitter last week as he played in all six games, including a 12-2 win over No.10 Herkimer on Sunday in which we went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBIs, and a homerun. For the week, Pezzolla had a .556 batting average (10-for-18) with seven runs, two doubles, two home runs and 10 RBIs. He also recorded a .619 OBP and a 1.000 slugging percentage. Pezzolla has now recorded at least one hit in each of the last 10 games he has played.

Zach Swanteck Sport: Golf College: Hudson Valley Community College Hometown: Troy, NY Zach continues to swing the clubs well in his first season with the Vikings golf program. Over the weekend, Swanteck carded a 77 to win the Mohawk Valley Invitational at the Oneida Community Golf Club, which is 10 stroke better than his first match of the year, less than 10 days prior. He followed up the win with a 81 in the SUNY Adirondack Invitational, which was good for a fourth place tie at the Hiland Park Country Club.

Abshir Yerow Sport: Track and Field College: Onondaga Community College Hometown: Syracuse, NY Abshir ran the 10,000 meters at SUNY Cortland as part of the Region III Track and Field Championships this weekend. He began the race at a school record pace and was able to maintain it throughout the entire 25 laps. He finished in a time of 33:32.20 breaking his own school record by close to a minute. In the race he was 5th overall and the 1st finisher for Region 3, beating the next regional finisher by over 3 minutes. Abshir's time qualified him for the NJCAA Division III National Championships and currently ranks him 3rd in the country.

Maliah Benedetto Sport: Lacrosse College: Monroe Community College Hometown: Rochester, NY Benedetto had a solid all-around game as top-ranked MCC defeated Genesee Community College 25-2 last week. The freshman tallied a goal and two assists, picked up four ground balls, and collected seven draws for the Tribunes, who won their 90th consecutive game.

Michele DiNicola Sport: Softball College: Corning Community College Hometown: Ontario, NY Michele helped lead Corning to a 7-1 record on the week. The centerfielder was on fire at the plate going 15-26, a .577 batting average, with a 1.308 slugging percentage. Eight of her fifteen hits went for extra bases as she hit 5 homeruns, 2 doubles, and triple. Dinicola scored 15 runs and had 27 RBI's. She recorded at least one RBI in all eight games and had at least 4 RBI in 5 of the 8 games.
