Male Athletes of the Week

Sam Castronova

Sport:  Football

College:  Erie Community College

Hometown:  Williamsville, NY

Sam accounted for nearly 300 total yards of offense and was in on all 4 ECC touchdowns against undefeated Milford Academy in his final game. The sophomore threw for 242 yards on 18 completions for 2 TDs and was the team’s leading rusher with 56 yards, while also scoring twice from the ground.

 

 

 

Troy Keller

Sport:  Wrestling

College:  Niagara County Community College

Hometown:  North Tonawanda, NY

Keller had a huge week for the Thunderwolves, going 3-0 in dual-meet action and winning the annual McMullen Open at Muskegon CC. The 165-pound freshmen beat grapplers from RIT, Muskegon CC and Ancilla CC in dual meets before taking 1st with a 15-0 technical-fall victory in the finals of the McMullen Open.

 

 

 

Omar Little

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Mercyhurst University - North East

Hometown:  Williamsport, PA

Omar had a big week offensively for the Saints.  On Tuesday he scored 28 points in a matchup with Owens Community College.  In a pair of games over the weekend he average 34 points per game with 30 points and 5 assists against Garrett College and 38 points, 4 assists, and 6 steals and the Community College of Beaver County.

 

 

 

Female Athletes of the Week

Miranda Dunton

Sport:  Swimming & Diving

College:  Genesee Community College College

Hometown:  Rushville, NY

Miranda captured three individual wins for the Genesee Community College swimming and diving team last weekend, helping the women's squad to a second place finish at the GCC Harvest Invitational. Dunton won the 500 freestyle by nearly 50 seconds, finishing in 6:03.17. She topped the 200 free with a finishing time of 2:17.25 and won the 100 free with a time of 1:02.91.

 

 

 

Alliyah Gillespie

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Niagara County Community College

Hometown:  Albany, NY

Gillespie led the Thunderwolves to a pair of wins at the Montgomery College Tip-Off Tournament. She had 10 points in limited action of a 79-35 win vs. Cumberland CC. The sophomore guard followed that up with 20 points, four rebounds and three steals in just 20 minutes of play during a 91-50 win vs. Columbus State CC.
