Male Athletes of the Week

Tyseem Lyles

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Tompkins Cortland Community College

Hometown:  Brooklyn, NY

Tyseem put together a pair of strong games this week. At Jefferson, he scored a career-high 30 points to go with 10 rebounds, 7 steals, and 6 assists and no turnovers while shooting 8-11 from three point range. Against Broome he led the Panthers with 19 points along with 7 rebounds, 8 steals, and 7 assists.

 

 

Da'Shawn Suber

Sport:   Basketball

College:  Genesee Community College

Hometown:  Spring Valley, NY

Suber helped the Genesee CC men's basketball team to three wins last week to improve the Cougars overall record to 18-6.  He scored 12 points, including the game-winning basket, against Niagara CCC. He chipped in four assists and three rebounds against Jamestown CC and then dished out 10 assists, scored seven points and collected six rebounds against Herkimer CCC.

Female Athletes of the Week

Jasmine Canady

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Jefferson Community College

Hometown:  Spring Lake, NC

Jasmine led the Cannoneers to a 2-0 record last week with wins over Tompkins Cortland CC and Finger Lakes CC.  She averaged 29.5 points per game shooting 72.7% from the floor (24 for 33).  She also averaged 8.5 rebounds, 7.0 steals, and 2.0 assists per game.  She currently ranks in the top 20 in the country in scoring, assists, and steals.

 

 

Kristine Ripson

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Niagara County Community College

Hometown:  Youngstown, NY

Ripson had a pair of big games this past week for the Thunderwolves, who are now 22-2 on the season. In an 85-73 loss at Jamestown CC, Ripson had 13 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks. Two days later in a 68-31 win at Genesee CC, she had 24 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, three assists and two steals.  Kristine is among the national leaders in points (16.4, 44th), rebounds (11.5, 14th) and blocks (3.6, 3rd) per game this season.
