Male Athletes of the Week


Casey Guary

Sport:  Baseball

College:  Genesee Community College

Hometown:  Rochester, NY

Casey helped the GCC baseball team to seven wins last week, improving the Cougars' record to 12-2 in the Region. Guary began the week earning a win on the mound against SUNY Broome in game one of a doubleheader, tossing six complete innings, allowing four earned runs while striking out three. He turned in a 1-3 performance at the plate in game two, driving in two runs and scoring once. He then went a combined 5-7 with two runs and two RBI's in a doubleheader against Tompkins Cortland CC, was the winning pitcher in both games of a doubleheader against Erie CC and collected four hits and scored three runs in a doubleheader against Monroe CC.

 

Austin Staats

Sport:  Lacrosse

College:  Onondaga Community College

Hometown:  Six Nations, Ontario

Austin recorded fourteen points last week, scoring ten goals and dishing out four assists. Staats numbers lasts week increased his ranking from eleventh to seventh in the country with forty total goals.

 

 

Female Athletes of the Week

 

Courtney Guzda

Sport:  Lacrosse

College:  Erie Community College

Hometown:  West Seneca, NY

Courtney led the Kats to a pair of wins last week against Genesee CC and Mohawk Valley CC to extend Erie’s win streak to three with eight goals over the two contests. With her record-program breaking 11-goal game the week before and her performance last week, she has bolted to the top-3 in goals nationally with 29.

 

 

 

 

Jamison Valentino

Sport:  Softball

College:  Cayuga Community College

Hometown:  Union Springs, NY

Valentino went 10-15 in 6 games last week includeingd 3 triples.  She added 4 RBI’s and 8 stolen bases.  In games against Fulton Montgomery and Monroe Community College she went 3-4 adding one triple in each game.
