Male Athlete of the Week

William Stone

Sport:  Soccer

College:  Genesee Community College

Hometown:  Littlehampton, England

William recorded 11 points in two games last week for the GCC men's soccer team, scoring five goals and adding an assist, helping the Cougars to a pair of wins. He scored a hat trick in a win over Cayuga CC and added two goals and an assist in a win over Erie CC. Stone has scored at least one goal in each of Genesee's last six games.

 

 

 

Female Athletes of the Week

Morgan Boss

Sport:  Volleyball

College:  Niagara County Community College

Hometown:  Lewiston, NY

Boss, a sophomore setter, continued putting up big assist numbers for the Thunderwolves in four matches this week. In a five-set loss to Finger Lakes CC, Boss notched 33 assists and five digs. In a four-set defeat at the hands of Genesee CC, Boss had 28 assists and six digs. She also had five service aces during the three-match pod at GCC. In a single contest against WNYAC foe Mercyhurst North East, Boss finished with 12 assists. She currently has a team-high 253 assists and leads Region III with 12.05 assists/set.

 

 

 

McKenna Guarasce

Sport:  Volleyball

College:  Finger Lakes Community College

Hometown:  Lacona, NY

McKenna had a strong performance this week against Corning on Wednesday and at the Genesee POD on Saturday when Finger Lakes took on Erie CC, Niagara CCC and Jamestown CC. In the four matches she played, McKenna had 24 total kills, 7 digs, 10 solo blocks and 22 block assists to aid the Lakers.

 

 

 

Amanda Modesto

Sport:  Volleyball

College:  Genesee Community College

Hometown:  Sorocaba, Brazil

Modesto averaged 10.8 kills and 10.3 digs per match last week and helped the GCC volleyball team to a 3-1 record. Modesto had 11 kills and four digs at Monroe CC, 13 kills and 10 digs against Erie CC, 15 digs and eight kills against Niagara County CC and 12 digs and 11 kills against Jamestown CC. She is the team-leader in total kills and second in total digs so far this season.

 

 

 

Rose Thacker

Sport:  Volleyball

College:  Mercyhurst University - North East

Hometown:  Grove City, OH

Rose helped lead the Saints to a 2-0 week with wins over Niagara County CC and Erie CC. She converted 28 kills on 49 attempts on the week along with 6 blocks. Thacker is currently leading Division II ofthe NJCAA DII in hitting percentage at .533.
