Male Athletes of the Week

 

Paul Fitzgibbons

Sport:  Baseball

College:  Onondaga Community College

Hometown:  DeWitt, NY

Fitzgibbons helped lead the Lazers to a 6-2 record last week as he played in all eight games going 9-17 (.529) from the plate with 8 RBIs, 9 runs scored, 2 doubles and 9 walks for a .692 on-base percentage. Paul’s best game came against Erie Community College on May 7 when he went 3-4 with three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk.

 

Davis Prince

Sport:  Lacrosse

College:  Genesee Community College

Hometown:  London, Ontario

Davis helped lead the No. 4 GCC men's lacrosse team into the NJCAA National Final Four after a 10-point performance in a win over Howard CC in the opening round play-in game. Prince scored four goals and assisted on six to lead the Cougars' offense to a 19-9 win over HCC. He is second on the team in total points this year with 96.

 

Devlen Williams

Sport:  Track & Field

College:  Onondaga Community College

Hometown:  Syracuse, NY

Williams became Onondaga Community College's first track and field national champion by winning the long jump by over eight inches Saturday, at the NJCAA Track and Field National Championships with a jump of 6.96 meters.

 

 

Female Athletes of the Week

Nicole Beatson

Sport:  Lacrosse

College:  Monroe Community College

Hometown:  Skaneateles, NY

Nicole helped lead the Tribunes to the Region III Championship this weekend with wins over Jefferson CC in the semifinals and Onondaga CC in the finals. Beatson tallied six point in the semifinal win including 3 goals and two assists in the first help to help build a 13-0 lead heading into the intermission. She was named tournament MVP after scoring three goals with an assist as Monroe captured the championship with a 14-7 win over the Lazers.

 

 

Sydney Brenton

Sport:  Softball

College:  Genesee Community College

Hometown:  Alexander, NY

Sydney recorded a hit in all but one game last week for the GCC softball team, batting .357 for the Cougars. Brenton finished the week with two multi-hit games, including a 2 for 4 effort at Finger Lakes CC where she drove in three runs on two hits, including a home run.

 

Emily Foy

Sport:  Softball

College:  Mercyhurst University - North East

Hometown:  Frewburg, NY

In the District K Tournament this weekend Emily was 7 for 15 with four home runs and 12 RBIs in four games played. Foy was the leading hitter for the Saints as MNE came back from an opening game loss to win the tournament and advance to the NJCAA Division II National ChampionshipTournament.
