Male Athletes of the Week

 

 

 

Terrence Brown

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Genesee Community College

Hometown:  Philadelphia, PA

Brown turned in back-to-back performances of 15 or more points in a pair of games last week for the GCC men's basketball team. Brown scored 19 points and collected five boards at Niagara County CC and recorded a team high 15 points and also grabbed three rebounds on the road at Monroe CC.

 

 

 

Kevin Williams

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Tomokins Cortland Community College

Hometown:  Brooklyn, NY

Kevin had a pair of double-doubles this week, including a huge game in the Panthers win on Saturday. He started the week with 14 points and 12 rebounds in a loss at Corning, but finished with a career-game against Onondaga. The sophomore scored 37 points and pulled down 21 rebounds, both career-highs, while also recording four blocked shots, three steals and two assists.

 

 

 

Female Athletes of the Week

Melissa Bakowski

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Onondaga Community College

Hometown:  Camillus, NY

Melissa helped lead the Lazers to a trio of conference victories this week with wins over SUNY Broome CC, Jefferson CC, and Tompkins Cortland CC.  She average 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals per game.

 

 

 

Monica Brennan

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Finger Lakes Community College

Hometown:  Williamson, NY

Brennan had a productive week while facing two conference opponents. Monica led the team in a narrow defeat to Corning CC 60-58 on Thursday with 10 points and 10 rebounds. On Saturday, she followed up 20 points and 10 rebounds in the Lakers 66-54 victory over Cayuga CC.

 

 

 

Karly Fanning

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Genesee Community College

Hometown:  Rochester, NY

Fanning averaged 17 points per game last week for the GCC women's basketball team. Fanning scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds on the road at Niagara County CC and finished with a team high 15 points in a road contest at Monroe CC. She leads GCC in points per game so far this season with a 15.1 ppg average.

 

 

 

Chelsea Gibson

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Mohawk Valley Community College

Hometown:  Brooklyn, NY

Chelsea helped the Hawks kick of the second semester with wins over Hudson Valley CC and Clinton CC. Filling up the stat sheet, Chelsea averaged, 17 points, 6 steals, and 4 assists per game while shooting 56% from the field for the Hawks. Chelsea is a freshman general studies major.
