Jayquan Ashley Sport: Basketball College: Monroe Community College Hometown: Brooklyn, NY Ashley, a 6-foot-8 sophomore forward, was named tournament Most Valuable Player as the MCC men's basketball team won the 2014 Pete Pavia Memorial Scholarship Tournament last weekend. Ashley had 15 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists in a 77-75 win over #16 Northern Virginia on Saturday. He then followed that with 12 points and 10 rebounds as Monroe defeated #6 Cincinnati State 80-75 in the championship game Sunday. He finished the tournament shooting 73 percent from the field (11-for-15), including a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. |

Naquil Jones Sport: Basketball College: Genesee Community College Hometown: Philadelphia, PA Naquil led the Cougars to a sweep in the Genesee Holiday Classic Tournament last weekend, extending the Cougars' win streak to eight games in a row. Jones scored 15 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out four assists in a win over the Community College of Rhode Island and netted a game-high 28 points and collected six rebounds in a win over Columbus State Community College. |

Tahaij Lewis Sport: Basketball College: Finger Lakes Community College Hometown: Rochester, NY Tahaij saw a career-high in minutes on Saturday and made an instant impact to the Lakers. He used his size to advantage on the defense end. Lewis had 8 of his 11 rebounds on the defensive end, had 4 steals, 1 block and altered other shots. On the offensive end, he finished with 17 points helping lead the Lakers to a victory over Fulton-Montgomery CC. |

Elsa Andersson Sport: Basketball College: Genesee Community College Hometown: Uppsala, Sweden Elsa was named to the All-Tournament Team in the Genesee Holiday Classic Tournament last weekend, helping the GCC women's basketball team to a pair of wins. Andersson reached double figures in scoring in both games, recording 17 points and seven rebounds against Durham College (Ont.) and 15 points and three rebounds against the Community College of Rhode Island. |

Jesse DeWaters Sport: Basketball College: Niagara County Community College Hometown: Lockport, NY DeWaters led the unbeaten Thunderwolves (13-0) to three wins to close out the fall semester. In a 66-52 win at Cuyahoga CC, DeWaters finished with 17 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals. In the opening game of the Cougar Classic at Genesee CC, a 70-56 win over CCRI, DeWaters racked up 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Finally, in a 79-58 win over Durham College at the Cougar Classic, DeWaters had 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds. |

Alexis Smith Sport: Basketball College: SUNY Adirondack Hometown: South Glens Falls, NY In her only game of the past week Alexis scored 45 points and had 16 rebounds. She made 16 field goals and 13 Free Throws in an overtime loss to SUNY Broome CC. |
