Male Athletes of the Week

Ivan Grcic

Sport:  Basketball

College:  North Country Community College

Hometown:  Belgrade, Serbia

Ivan led the Saints to a pair of Region III road victories over Onondaga CC and Cayuga CC. Against Onondaga he scored 19 points going 4-7 from three point land and against Cayuga he scored all 18 of his points from behind the arc going 6-7, shooting 10-14 (71%) from three on the weekend.

 

Jason Perry Murray

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Genesee Community College

Hometown:  Harlem, NY

Perry Murray led the GCC men's basketball to a perfect 3-0 week last week. Jason recorded double-digit points in all three games, including a double-double (18 points and 15 rebounds) against Elmira College (JV). He scored 10 points and had six rebounds against St. John Fisher (JV) and finished with 13 points and eight rebounds in a win over No. 13 nationally ranked Cuyahoga Community College.

Female Athletes of the Week

Simonemmerson Roberts

Sport:  Basketball

College:  North Country Community College

Hometown:  Brooklyn, NY

Simone led the Saints to two victories over the weekend. First, she led the Saints to an 82-65 victory over Onondaga Community College on Saturday scoring 42 points. Roberts hit 8 of 13 shots from three and went 12-14 at the line; she pulled down 8 boards and had 3 assists. On Sunday, Simone led the saints past Cayuga Community College with 10 assists, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals.

 

Jaclyn Welch

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Niagara County Community College

Hometown:  Colonie, NY

Sophomore sharpshooter Jaclyn Welch led the unbeaten Thunderwolves (10-0) to three wins this past week. In a 59-50 win at previously-unbeaten Lakeland CC, Welch finished with a game-high 21 points and four blocks. She followed that up with 11 points, 5 rebounds and three steals in an 86-44 win over Westmoreland CCC. Finally, in a 90-43 win over Lorain CCC, the 5-foot-8 guard nailed three 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 17 points.
