Male Athlete of the Week

Kievonn Banks

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Finger Lakes Community College

Hometown:  Rochester, NY

Kievonn has been a spark for the Lakers this season coming off the bench. The freshman averaged 22 points per game in this roll this past week. Banks scored a career-high 24 in a win over DII Niagara on Wednesday. He then topped that with a 29 point performance on Sunday also averaging 5 rebounds a game. Without a start this season, Banks ranks 6th in Region III in points per game and is shooting just over 60% on the season.

 

Female Athletes of the Week

Brittany Anderson

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Onondaga Community College

Hometown:  Seneca Falls, NY

Anderson had a strong start to the week for Onondaga in a 101-42 victory over visiting Schenectady County CC. The sophomore tallied a game-high 19 points while shooting 9-for-13 from the field, contributing three assists, three steals and two rebounds in the contest. On Sunday she chipped in with 12 points while hitting three 3-pointers in the Lazers 67-48 victory over Fulton-Montgomery CC. Brittany also totaled five rebounds and four assists in the contest. On the season, Anderson’s 12.6 points per game and 3.1 assists per game are each good for second most on the team.

 

Alyssa Crosby

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Jefferson Community College

Hometown:  Brier Hill, NY

Alyssa led the Lady Cannoneers to a pair of Region III wins this weekend. This week she averaged 22.5 points, 8 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, and 3.5 steals per game.  She capped off her week posting a double-double against Hudson Valley CC scoring a career high 33 points with 10 rebounds.  Crosby sealed the win sinking 6 consecutive free throws in the final minute.

 

Tanisha Moyer

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Niagara County Community College

Hometown:  Albion, NY

Sophomore forward Tanisha Moyer led the unbeaten Thunderwolves (7-0) to a pair of wins this past week. In a 78-38 win over Finger Lakes CC, Moyer netted 14 points in just 13 minutes of play. In a 77-70 win over Cuyahoga CC, Moyer finished with a career-high 33 points and 15 rebounds. Moyer is currently second among Region III Division II players in both scoring and rebounding.
