Male Athletes of the Week

Mike Klugo

Sport:  Swimming & Diving

College:  Monroe Community College

Hometown:  Horseheads, NY

Klugo was named Male Athlete of the Meet as MCC won the 2015 Region III/Northeast District swimming championship over the weekend. Mike set a meet record in winning the 100 freestyle (47.20). He also took first in the 50 free (21.92) and 200 free (1:43.75). In addition, Klugo was part of the winning 200 free, 400 medley, 400 free, and 800 free relay teams.

 

Dustin Plumadore

Sport:  Ice Hockey

College:  SUNY Broome Community College

Hometown:  Plattsburgh, NY

Dustin was active in goal as the Hornets took on the top ranked team in Region III, Erie Community College.  Plumadore held the high scoring Kats to 4 goals in the 4-1 defeat stopping 66 of the 70 shots he faced in goal.

Female Athletes of the Week

Tamara Miler

Sport:  Swimming & Diving

College:  Monroe Community College

Hometown:  Prevalje, Slovenia

Miler was named Female Athlete of the Meet as MCC won the 2015 Region III/Northeast District swimming championship over the weekend. Miler set new meet records in all three individual events she entered, winning the 200 free (1:57.66), the 500 free (5:15.18) and the 1,650 free (17:45.58). She was also part of the winning 200 medley, 400 free, 400 medley, and 800 free relay teams.

 

Samantha Roberts

Sport:  Basketball

College:  Onondaga Community College

Hometown:  Cicero, NY

Roberts helped lead the No. 3 nationally ranked Lazers to a pair of conference wins last week after defeating Tompkins Cortland and Finger Lakes. Roberts nearly averaged a double-double with 17 points and 9.5 assists to go along with 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in the two games. Roberts had a career-high in both assists (13) and steals (7) on Saturday as the Lazers scored a season-high 109 points in a 109-47 decision over Finger Lakes. Roberts has averaged 9.4 assists over her last seven games and currently leads Region III in assists per game.
